About me
My name is María José Campos, or Maja, for short.

I'm a brand and systems designer with over 10 years of experience across information architecture, service design, governance models, and visual identity systems.

My work sits between structure and identity. I help organizations define how their products, platforms, and identities hold together as they grow.

Born in Lima, Peru. I now live in Aarhus, Denmark.
My practice
I design structure and the systems that live within it.

I work with:
Information
Architecture
Structuring complex digital ecosystems.
Governance
Defining models for long-term alignment.
Taxonomies & Structures
Designing classification systems that scale across platforms.
Brand Architecture
Structuring identity systems across products and sub-brands.
Service Design

Connecting services, teams, and workflows.
Visual Language
Designing coherent visual systems and expressive detail.
I move comfortably between defining direction and refining detail — from high-level models to UI components and visual tone.
I care about durability and clarity, but also about energy. A system should hold together — and still leave room for character.
Context and Trajectory
Over the past decade, I’ve worked across education, entrepreneurship, industrial sectors, healthcare, and cultural institutions in Latin America, Australia, the USA, and Europe.

I’ve collaborated with startups building from scratch and enterprise teams navigating scale and regulation.
These environments shaped how I work. I value structure, but also nuance and adaptability.

I’m particularly interested in how AI is reshaping our tools and workflows, and how we can design systems that evolve responsibly while leaving room for imagination.
One thoughtful step at a time.
